During the hearing, she highlighted the need for a sector-specifice Recovery Plan, as well as further specific measures, such as new public credit lines and an extension of the Force Majeure Temporary Unemployment Scheme (ERTE) to help the sector alleviate the liquidity crisis.

Ms. Ranera provided some concrete data on the scale of the crisis in the hotel sector and also outlined the need to seize the moment so that close collaboration between the public administration and the sector supports the transition to environmental and economic sustainability, which could make Spain a leading global destination. The commitment to such sustainability will allow the sector to also create "green jobs" in a "Green deal" intended to meet the Sustainability Goals and 2030 Agenda.

In addition to the continuity of support to the sector, which predicts that the recovery will be reached by 2023, Ms. Ranera also indicated the need to correct the negative impact that tourism causes in oversaturated destinations, while stressing the opportunity that new technologies  and training offer for innovation,  adding more value to the sector. The Administration as a whole, and the local administration in particular, must also know how to allow enough flexibility to permit changes in use that will sometimes be necessary in one of the sectors most punished by the current Covid-19 Pandemic.
